WHICH POKER GAME IS BEST TO PLAY?

StudentPokerPro.com

Which Poker Game Should You Play? When you open up and run your poker software, you will notice that there are a number of games for you to choose from. All of these card games are classified as poker games, but each has its own unique set of rules based around the general rules of the game of poker. The most popular poker variants available online are Texas Holdem, Omaha and Stud. Within each of these categories, there are also sub-categories for the type of betting structure they can be played on, such as, Limit, No Limit and Pot Limit. But which game is most suited to you as a University Student?

If you are familiar with poker at all, you may recognise the game of No Limit Texas Holdem. This is because the game has been greatly popularised by television shows and in movies, which has helped it to become the most popular poker variant online and in casinos. As a winning poker player, I would definitely recommend Texas Holdem to any new player for the following reasons…

1] Easy To Learn
No Limit Texas Holdem is one of the easiest of all the poker games to learn. The rules are simple and it won’t take you too long before you find that you are completely comfortable with playing the game. Therefore you are able to save yourself a lot of frustration and time, so that you can get down to learning how to win money without wasting valuable time having to learn detailed and complicated rules.

2] Most Popular
As already mentioned, No Limit Texas Holdem is currently the most popular game in the world. Therefore you will never have a problem of finding a table to play at, as there is always going to be action on the Texas Holdem tables no matter what time you decide to play. In some games like Stud, you may find that are a shortage of players to play with online, and thus there is a minimal amount of tables open at any one time. However in Holdem, there is always going to be action at the tables.

3] Easiest To Beat
In my opinion, Holdem is one of the easiest poker games to beat. Because the rules are so simple, you will find a lot of players at the tables falsely thinking that they are good players. They will sit down under the notion that they have great ability because they have watched a few pros on television, when in real fact they have a lot to learn from the game. It is these kind of players that will be earning you the most money, as it only takes a little bit of sound Holdem Strategy to be able to beat them.

4] Various Limits Available
You may notice that the other poker variants such as Omaha and Stud do not have a wide variety of limits available. This is because they are not as popular as Holdem, and therefore the poker rooms have no need to provide a wide variety of limits to the players if they are not going to be used. This can cause a bit of a problem for the low limit player, as a lot of the tables will start at limits like 25c/50c, which is too high for a typical University student player. The popularity of Holdem means that poker rooms offer a wide variety of limits to suit different players with varying bankrolls, which is handy if you are a low stakes player.

Summary

So as you can see, it makes sense to start playing Holdem rather than any of the other poker variants available. This is why the strategy available on this site is aimed towards the game of Texas Holdem, as it is going to be the game that will earn you the most money if you can learn to play it well. There is no harm in trying out the other games like Omaha and Stud, but it is in your best interest to stick with Holdem for the majority of the time so that you can improve your game and take it to a winning level.
