As some of you viewing the blog right now will recognize, I am now using wordpress as a way to blog about student poker life a little more easily. Wordpress for those of you that don’t know is like a bit of a program that allows you to write artciles and such in the form of a blog, and its a pretty simple and effective way to keep a blog.
I know that the design for now looks a lot different to the main site, but I am looking into making it look the same as the rest as the site so it doesn’t feel as though you are leaving the site every time you read this blog.
But anyways, on a positive note it means that I will be able to write more blog posts in the future and write them more frequently, so it should prove to be a good move in the long run. Just added an about me section if any of you are interested in reading about me, I’m sure you are.
So yeah, I thought I would let you guys know what is going on, expecially if you have noticed a bit of a change since you last visited the site.

So its September once again, and thousands of new and returning students will be making their way to University or College to start or continue with their courses either this month or the next. For a lot of us, we had a great time in the summer and probably spent a little more than we should have done going out, and so now its time to get back to budgeting again.
Maybe the holidays this weren’t too harsh on your wallet, and you managed to keep yourself afloat with a decent paying part-time job. I’m sure for a few other lucky individuals, you were able to play a decent amount of poker and use your winnings to go out and spend some time with friends. Either way, congratulations are in order if you managed to keep on top of your finances, whether it be from finding or job or using your ability at the poker tables to win your weekly wage packet.
This year brings a whole new set of opportunities for the new and veteran poker player. For the new player, you have the opportunity to get involved with the poker scene at your University or College and possibly develop into a winning poker player over the coming months. And for the veteran players, you might find that you have some easy money that you can invite to your home games for the first few weeks! Either way, StudentPokerPro.com is going to be here to provide you with all the key student poker information and strategy to help you improve your game and help you win the most money possible whilst at the poker tables.
There are also sure to be a few big Student tournaments this year with some big cash prizes, and we will be looking to bring you all the information that you need to know about these tournaments as soon as we hear about them. The VC Student Poker Championship turned out great last year, and we are hoping for a repeat performance this time around. Maybe a few other big student tournaments will be added to the list this year also with some equally as big cash prizes.
Also, before I forget, we have teamed up with Titan Poker this year to give each new student player that signs up through us a free $25 on your first deposit to help kick start your bankroll. Just use our ‘STUDENTPRO’ bonus code on sign up and you will be all set to claim your free bonus amount. So as if things couldn’t get any better for you, life as a student poker player in 2007/2008 is looking to be more promising than ever!
Good luck at the tables…

A Canadian Student playing at the micro 1c/2c no limit Holdem tables has picked up the bonus prize for winning the 10 billionth hand to be played at PokerStars. Justine Hall from Dalhousie University in Canada was a recreational player at PokerStars and played there during here free time between schoolwork.
Her biggest win up to that point was $45 from a multi-table tournament, and so the $100,000 bonus for winning this particular hand was a little step up from the prize money she is used to winning.
Justine only had $12 in her account and was trying to win a little extra pocket change when she entered the 10 billionth hand. However, she was quick to notice the commentator stating the importance of the hand in the chat box, and how each player at the table would be receiving at least $10,000 when the hand was over. Surprisingly, two players at the table must have overlooked this message, as they folded before they even had the chance to see a flop!
Justine was dealt 8c 3c, and so things weren’t exactly looking great for her before the flop. However, when the flop came Ac Kc Td there was a little more hope as she had landed a decent flush draw. The turn sealed the deal as it came the 9c completing Justine’s flush. No other players at the table were able to improve their hand as the river came, and so Justine claimed the top bonus prize of $100,000 whilst the other players at the table received a handsome $10,000 each.
When asked what she had planned for the money, Justine seemed to have a very clear and focused idea of what she was going to do with it:
“I want this amazing amount of money to benefit me in the next couple of years and in the future as well,” Hall said. “I’m going to pay for the rest of my university and either invest the rest of it or buy a house…and of course do a little shopping.”
